The Missoula Developmental Service Corporation (MDSC) was developed in 1990 to
provide intensive community-based services for 54 adults with developmental
disabilities. The project was the result of a special initiative funded by the
State of Montana and grew from community interest.
The services provided by MDSC are based on the needs, desires and abilities of
its clients to live, work, play and be healthy. Emphasis is placed on
increasing clients' communication, self-help and socialization skills and
providing opportunities for decision making. It is the purpose of the
corporation to promote independence and community involvement to enhance the
quality of life for people served.
The Corporation includes seven group residences located in typical neighborhoods
and offering a variety of experiences and options for residential living.
Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In addition to its residential services, MDSC provides day services, with
instructional emphasis on vocational skills, and including communication,
survival skills and specialized therapies. Day services occur primarily at the
MDSC center located at 1005 Marshall Street.
